Pitching is by far the most enjoyable position in
Baseball. Okay, I may be a
little biased, but I absolutely love every aspect of it.
Many pitchers enjoy pitching
because they control the pace or flow of the game.
Some pitchers like the physical
game of chess pitching challenges them with.
Others enjoy the art of
deceiving batters. No matter why you like pitching; you
won’t have as much fun doing it without knowing different
pitching grips and how to
throw a variety of pitches. Nor will you be as successful if you
don’t know how to throw at least three different
pitches.
The first pitch every
young pitcher wants to learn how to throw is a curveball. I
don’t blame them: Although they should learn how to throw a
fastball with effective pitching mechanics
first, the curveball is popular because it works so
well. It’s that
simple. If you learn
how to grip and throw a curveball the right way, you will be
much more successful than a pitcher who throws a fastball
and splitter. Hitters
can hit a good curveball, but if you’re a pitcher who throws
a “great” curve, your competition will struggle and you win
more games.
Learning different
pitching grips will give you the ability to keep hitters
off balance. If you
have three pitches in your arsenal that you can throw for
strikes at any time, you can change speeds, location and the
direction of each pitch. This spells success for a pitcher.
Anybody can throw a fastball. In addition, any hitter,
regardless of how fast a pitcher can throw, can hit any
fastball. To experience
great success on the mound, you need to learn more pitching
grips and the art of deceiving
hitters.
If you want to
throw a knee buckling curve, a splitter that drops of the
table or you are simply looking to mow down your
competition; order
